gcc Upgrade (RH 7.3)

Hi There,

I've been searching the Internet all day today, to end up even more confused and clueless than when I started this morning.

Basically I've got an application source that refuses to compile because the gcc version currently on the system (RH 7.3 gcc 2.96 20000731) is not acceptable!!??

Is it or It isn't possible to upgrade gcc on a RH 7.3 box?

If it is... is there a kind of "upgrade for dummies" procedure to follow? Other than reinstalling or upgrading (very much impossible as the database/application we currently use is only supported on RH 7.3).

Help will be very much appreciated.

Hi Eduardo,

It is possible to install multiple version of gcc side by side. See this site for info:

You will have to install the required gcc (you can probably find what version you need in the readme of install file of the program you want to compile) in a seperate directory.

Hopefully this will solve your problem.
