GCC problem

Hi I'm trying to install a wireless pcmcia card on RedHat 9. When i do a insmod xxx.o it comes back and say:" rtl8180_rh73.o: The module you are trying to load (rtl8180_rh73.o) is compiled with a gcc
version 2 compiler, while the kernel you are running is compiled with
a gcc version 3 compiler. This is known to not work."

What do I do? should I installed the older version of the gcc compiler?

Thank you

Kernel modules (for example, your rtl8180_rh73.o) and the kernel need to be compiled with the same major version of gcc. Someone compiled the module with gcc 2, and your kernel was compiled with gcc 3.

Downgrading your gcc version could be a major undertaking.

I would try to find the module compiled with gcc 3, or compile it yourself.

Is the card a Realtek 8180? If so, this site http://www.alumni.caltech.edu/~rbell/Realtek8180.html might be helpful.
