Garbaged console after quitting X

Hey everyone!

I've had a really disturbing problem lately, but haven't given a shot on it yet.
When I exit X in any way, or just switching to console by using the CTRL+ALT+F-keys,
the console screen gets filled with garbage symbols (colored squares replacing all
the text, can't see or read what i type). Have someone had this problem?

Regards, raccoon

I haven't presonally experienced anything the like...

Can you type reset in the console?

Cheers,
Tink

"colored squares" is a symptom of non-refreshed VGA memory.
Any refreshing issues yet ?

I'm still using XFree86 though, what could be the problem?

if you ahve it in xfree86? now im curious, ok, type this in to see what happens:
startx 2> errors
after everything starts up, press control alt delet to quit, then on reboot see if anything got recored in the error file, if it did then post it

2nd thought, jsut type
xf86config
cuse from other posts iv ran across it was teh refresh problem or somthing like that i think , membrax was right it looks like

XFree86 works like a charm though, no problems at all there. The problem is when I go from X out to the console (by switching to it, or shutting down X).

yea, but it has to be the refhresh like he said, its the only possibility left, im to lazy to run my X mode use i use xserver and that i ahve to type in teh config options every time, so i rarly try and get it to work :), i got console stuff to do and i dont wanna lose it
