garbage around mouse pointer


more newbie problems, when linux boots my mouse pointer has a lot of lines around it and i cannot see the pointer very clearly. Have tried changing mouse, changing graphics config etc. All to no avail.
Any Ideas?....oh yea...mandrake 8 is the install

You will need to edit the file /etc/X11/XF86Config and either remove the comment or put one in, where it says:

sw_cursor

This is found in the device section.

If your using Xfree 4.0.3 then you need to edit XF86Config-4
