gaim in gnome panel
 

I am running gaim in RH8 and I would like to have an applet in the gnome panel to save space. I have found posts that imply that this is possible but I can't figure out how. I tried installing the giam applet rpm, but I can't find a way to add it to the panel.

if you see the the taskbar right next to your window groups you should be able to just move it slightly to the right making more space of a icon.

make one on your exisiting desktop and just simply drag it in to your taksbar.

Sorry, I don't mean a launcher, but an applet which will let me use gaim from the gnome menu.
