Question Functionality loss using SSH

Hi all,
I just installed a fresh version of Debian on a machine. My intent is to learn Linux, not necessarily replace my desktop. I won't get into the boring details, but long story short, I have my laptop in my living room, that's where I use it most. I would like to put the Linux machine in a different room (so it can be hard wired into the network).

My question/concern is:
Would I lose any functionality if I my primary connection method to the machine is via SSH rather than directly on the console??

Thanks in advance!

SSH is a secured shell that's all. You do anything you want as long as you have the privileges.

Thanks, I had a feeling that was the case, I just wanted to confirm. I'm more interested in learning the CLI versus the GUI.

Thanks again

Wise choice. The power of linux comes out more in the shell than in a GUI. As already mentioned, there is nothing you could do with a keyboard an monitor directly attached that you couldn't do through SSH.

It will probably prove to be a difficult learning curve, but once you start getting some CLI stuff together you'll never look back. Good luck, and post when you run into difficulties!
