full screen display problems

hey guys ive been having problems with my display whenever a program or a command line interface is supposed to take up the full screen. The problem is that there are parts being cut off for instance in one game called circus linux that i enjoy the right side is cut off, and when im booting up and i see everything being initialized the left sid is cut off. Even if i boot into my grub floppy or by boot and nuke floppy it seems that in the upper left corner there is stuff being cut off. Originally i had rh9 alone on this computer which is an hp compaq d330t slim tower, i have a intel pentium 4 processor with i think 2.66 ghz. My display is up to 1024x768. When i had rh9 alone the problem didn't exist, but when i decided to dual boot rh9 and ubuntu the problem appeared. Now i am dual booting breezy badger and suse 10 and the problem still exists. Any help with this would be great.

If you shrink down the actual visual bit of the display with the monitor controls, is the bit still missing ??? Or possibly have you got the resolution set to 1024x768 and the actual display set to the next size up (1260x1024 I think) as it might be connected with having some virtual desktop space setup - I always turn that off as it annoys the hell out of me, but if you move the cursor to the corner thats missing the whole viewable part would move a little and show the missing area if this is the case?

Sorry, I can't think of anything else, but I just recall that it pissed me off until I worked out why it was happening.

regards

John

Hey thanks for the advice, after reading your reply i played with my monitors buttons and i found out that it had an auto adjust button. So I can just press that button whenever anything is being cut off. Well I appreciate the help, as you said it was an extremely annoying problem that ive had for a while now. So Im very glad to be rid of it. Thanks
