FTP server


i have mandrake 9.1 with FTP server on board...

where are configuration files? how to add user?
i know that FTP folder is in file://var/ftp/pub

but when i trying to connect to my ftp via WWW
(ftp://[my IP]/pub)

internet browser says that it cant connect..

it not because of FIREWALL...

:

1 where are the config files for my FTP server??
2 how to add new user?
3 why i cant connect via WWW ?

Hello

Depends on which FTP server is/was installed. Check with:
rpm -qa | grep ftp

And post up what you get. Be sure the FTP server is running:
/etc/init.d/FTPSERVER start
Where FTPSERVER is the name of the server installed (which should be revealed from my above command).

1. Depends on what server.

2. useradd or userdrake, or fire up an X session and use a graphical tool.

3. Too many possibilities, but check to see the server is running first.

And, as a side note, how do you know it's not because of Firewall, Mandrake comes with a built in Firewall...

[root@localhost hunter]# rpm -qa | grep ftp
lftp-2.6.4-2mdk
proftpd-1.2.7-1mdk
ftp-client-krb5-1.2.7-1mdk
gftp-2.0.14-4mdk
[root@localhost hunter]#

now i write in console:

[root@localhost hunter]# /etc/init.d/proftpd start
Uruchamianie proftpd: [ OK ]
[root@localhost hunter]#

now i`m trying to connect and iths work ^^

now i will add user using userdrake... its working :]]


i was sure it wasnt because of firewall because i configured it myself ^^
