Cool FTP Server?????

Goeie Dag all,
Well I did it, I think.......I got my first FTP server up and running and busy with final tests....I just have one or two questions to make sure I use it correctly:
1) How do I share the upload directory to certain people on my network?
2) How can I make sure that people from outside can't coem and mess up my first attempt in the Linux server world?

I run Mandrake 10.1 and using proFTPd with the gproFTPd graphic side....

If you only want certain computers to have access to your ftp server, define that in your /etc/hosts.allow, and /etc/hosts.deny files. In the hosts.allow file, put in all the IP addresses that need to access your ftp server, in the form of
daemon: IP addresses separated by commas
And in hosts.deny put
daemon: all
Of course, replace daemon with the name of the daemon you're using, probably vsftpd.
