ftp permissions access only in the one directory

hi

We need change the permitions or configuration in the ftp directory or in my vsftpd.conf file. The default ftp directory is /var/ftp/pub. When the user login to the server move to all path of my server example go to the home diectory, go to the sbin directory, etc. we need deny this access , only the user access to the one directory for examples ftp_directory. its possible ?

thank and regards

Carlos

It sounds like you want to prevent people logged into ftp via a local user account from moving around the file system. If that is correct then I found this information in the /etc/vsftpd.conf file.

#
# Uncomment to put local users in a chroot() jail in their home directory
# after login.
#
#chroot_local_user=YES
#
# You may specify an explicit list of local users to chroot() to their home
# directory. If chroot_local_user is YES, then this list becomes a list of
# users to NOT chroot().
#
#chroot_list_enable=YES
#
# (default follows)
#
#chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd.chroot_list
#

On the other hand if you want all users to use the chroot jail pub directory then why not have them all use the ftp anonymous account?
