yup, i did.

so im just wondering, if its not a built-in ethernet card, like what im using - a pcmcia xircom card, am i to install the network module only? or do i have to install some special pcmcia module as well?

i tried that but it didnt work too. it says 'pcmcia module already loaded'...

please help...

I'm having the same issues. The driver is on modules disk 4, but for some reason I can't load it. Once the PCMCIA main modules are loaded and the card manager starts, it won't let you select a module to load.

Not sure what we need to do? I want to move to suse, but if I have too many problems getting it installed, then I might try another distro.

Had this issue with SuSE 9.0 as well on my Inspiron 8100. Once you get to the manual install menu, load the PCMCIA module and let the card manager start up, if it hasn't already. Now simply switch to a terminal session by pressing Alt-F9. Type "modprobe xircom_cb" and it should load your network driver. Switch back to the installation window (Alt-F1, I believe) and choose the Start Installation option.
