Question FTP

Hello I created an account called adminftp on a local Linux server Centos. Added this user to FTP group. When I use Filzilla from another computer in the same network, it cannot connect to the server but I can ping to the server. Anyone knows what the problem is? Thank you all. Here is the message:

Status: Connecting to 192.168.0.150:21...
Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Error: Could not connect to server

"connection refused" sounds like your FTP daemon is not running. Is it? Or is it on (x)inetd?

Thank you for your response. What commands do I used to see ftpd is running and if not how can I make it run? Could you also hep me with this. I can access the website (http://localhost, 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.150) successfully from the local computer server. But When I access the site from another computer in the same local network, I don't get the correct website. I see the site like html as text not graphic. Please see below text file output from the browser: Also I can only access the site by typing only 192.168.0.150. When I type http://localhost. Do you see what I did wrong? How can I fix this problem. Thank you again.

Please start your own thread. It's rude to hijack unrelated posts.

What FTP server are you running?

Try: ps -ef | grep ftp

I can't really tell you how to start it unless you tell me what the name of the specific FTP daemon you are trying to run is. Maybe look at /etc/init.d/*ftp*

Does this help? And could you tell me what command can I use that the server starts mysqld, httpd and ftpd at boot time automatically?

[root@localhost ~]# ps -ef | grep ftp
root 3938 3603 0 23:56 pts/1 00:00:00 grep ftp

[root@localhost ~]# vi /etc/init.d/*ftp*

Hi,

Apparently you are using vsftpd daemon.
The vsftpd package seems to be installed.
You need to do few things to have it running and working.

service vsftpd start
chkconfig --list 345 vsftpd on
And then edit your iptables file to enable incoming connection on port 21 and ftp connection tracking (read the man pages if needed)
Ensure that your SELinux settings are correct
...
Test

Regards,

Tshimanga.
