fsckd-cancel-msg locking up system

I have Linux Jessie and it runs well on my desktop. I rebooted it and it went through it's cycle and stopped at "Resuming from hibernation" and the following line printed on the scree was "fsckd-cancel-msg:Press Ctrl+C to cancel all file system checks in progress." Pressing Ctlr+C did nothing. I reloaded Jessie and upgraded to Buster. I thought that might fix the problem as this might be some kind of bug in Jessie. Same thing happened. I think it's a grub problem but I don't know. Now my screen is locked up and a blinking cursor is laughing at me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If I were in your situation, I would go rescue mode and check what had gone wrong. Post here how fsck goes.

cheers

Next time, come here before system upgrade.

Here's a link that will help explain fsck.
Make sure that the partition is 'unmounted' and if it is the only os on that machine you can use a Live CD to run fsck.

https://www.tecmint.com/fsck-repair-...rors-in-linux/

If your Debian continues to fail to boot than you may need boot repair.

https://www.debian.org/releases/stab...h08s07.html.en

To enter rescue mode hold down the left shift key. If that doesn't work press the Esc key repeatedly to display the Grub Menu.
Than arrow down to rescue mode or recovery mode and hit enter.

I reloaded Jessie and i am reading another Linux book to get more familiarized with the OS. I need to know more before I tackle Buster. Thanks for the support......
