Frustrated with Fedora 3!!! Just installed...

OK, I am very proficient with Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003. I work in IT and thought it would be a good Idea to learn Linux. I installed FC3 and I like the look of it. I'm just not sure how to do things. I downloaded a Divx Driver and it was tar.gz format. What is this? I could look at it with whatever desktop program that I have but don't know how to install it.

I just found out about terminal and the commands seems fairly confusing.
Is there a guide somewhere that can make this transition a little more bearable? So far, it is great for surfing the net but that's about it.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

is there a place that has all the terminology used in Linux? it seems that a lot of the names of programs and apps are strange.

Try these:

http://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/...tro-linux.html
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...nux-HOWTO.html
http://www.tldp.org/FAQ/Linux-FAQ/index.html
http://www.tldp.org/LDP/LGNET//index.html
http://www.tldp.org/LDP/gs/gs.html

and although not strictly related to fedora core, this guide helped me out a lot when i first started out in linux.

Try here for terminology:
