from os, issue command to reboot into bios

Hi all

here is a curious idea i had: how to, from the linux OS, reboot into bios. without having to press all the f-keys.

the situation i am encountering is this: I have this suse linux that boots too fast, makes it difficult to get into bios.

The OS in question is SLES, but i am looking for something that can be applied across various Linux OS.

thanks
davy

This is not an answer to your actual question but, I usually hold down a key when I have this issue to make the bios throw a stuck key error that offers an option to launch the configuration. You can also try to press the pause key over and over this should pause bios processing.

As far as I know, you can't. The computer runs the bios splash page then hands the boot over to the OS. Coming from that, the OS doesn't have control over anything until the bios has had it's chance to show. After that, the OS can't interact with the bios at all, presumably for security reasons. Could easily be wrong on this, though.

An alternative could be to disable the fast boot/memory count option of the bios. Not ideal, but if it's going too fast, that might slow it down a little.
