From AIX in the Mid to early 2000 to Lunix in 2012 / Need to refresh and retool

Want and need to learn all there is about Linux and networking ASAP.

Any recommendations where to start. Took a AIX class 12 years ago, but have for the most part not used AIX or Linux in years.

Have you got a system to install linux on? That is the best place to start. Basic configuration of an ethernet adapter is handled by most distros during install. Try turning it into a server. Add a wireless adapter, and figure out how to configure it. Adding an adapter after you install will help you learn about finding and installing KLM's ( drivers ). Lots of people struggle with wireless, just scan through the forum.

For the server part, it all depends on what you might be interested in. Samba FTP SSH NFS web servers. Just some thoughts. There are HowTo's if you google for each. Best part with linux is its all there.

Might consider one of the schools that offer fast learning. Sometimes they call them boot camps or such.

Depends exactly what you want/need to learn, but Linux Networking http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...ide/index.html.
Linux tutorial http://rute.2038bug.com/index.html.gz.
In general try www.linuxtopia.org and drill down from there.
