fresh install/hard drive

I've installed and reinstalled linux about 8 times on this pc in the past few weeks because I've been messing around with stuff I shouldn't have. Anyhow I've noticed windows taking 4-5 seconds to open and very odd behavior, how do I delete the partition completely so I can then do a fresh install? When I reinstalled the previous times it just installed on the same partition again and kept some of my old configuration settings. I want to avoid this and start clean. I don't have an A: drive.

During the install, you should have an option of doing a custom install where you can format and setup your partitions. Also when your installing and it auto installs for you, its most likely formatting whatever partitions its setting up. Slow apps opening up and such isn't a problem with the install most likely, its some other problem.

If you provide specs of your computer and distro, it could be of more help, but not providing, its just a guessing game for us.
