Freedom Pop Wireless Linux Modem
 

I'm anxiously thinking about a time when I might be able to lay aside my years of using Windows as a proprietary OS, and walking with Linux. I've now got my computer set up with a dual boot system, so I can specify either Linux or Windows as the OS I want to use, and am currently using Windows 7 because I can't figure out how to get Linux Mint 17 to recognize and install my Netgear Aircard 778s. I use this wireless modem through the Freedom Pop ISP, because they have good prices and will actually roll over unused data from one month to the next.
Does anybody know about a Linux specialist / expert that lives somewhere around Shelbyville, Tullahoma, or Murfreesboro TN, who could help me get this situation figured out? It's probably a really simply solution; I just don't know enough about Linux to know what to do. I'll be grateful for any help or contacts that you all can give.

A quick Google seems to show that your Aircard 778s is a stand-alone wireless HotSpot?

If this is the case then the issue is with Mint not recognising your WiFi device in your computer or you've not configured Mint to use your computers WiFi with that hotspot.

Okay, it looks like you may be correct about the device I'm using; the thing is that I'm unsure about how to configure MINT to notice and use this modem.

For Mint use their web pages or consider pages that have your question in Ubuntu or Debian. Usually same or similar.
