foxy problems
im having problems installing firefox (tar.gz)
harmd@linux:~> tar -zxvf firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz
tar: firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
pharmd@linux:~>
if anyone knows where I;ve gone wrong please let me know

maybe a silly question, but you're sure it's in the directory you're trying to install it from?
open a terminal, and type ls to see if it's listed. if it's not, you'll need to find the directory it's in, and cd to there.

my file is in file/home/pharmd and so i think im in the right place no?
im using suse 9.1 if that helps

try downloading gunzip (that's G-unzip, don't worry). It extracts GZ files. If it leaves you with a tar file rather than a directory, use "tar -zxvf" without the quotes against the tar file that gunzip made from the GZ file.

just one more little problem..how to i get an icon on the desktop so i dont have to go into console everytime to run it?
