four partition maximum?

I have a spare computer that I would like to install three linux distros on. It currently has 3 partitions: boot, redhat9, and swap. I would like for it to have 5: boot, 3 distros, and swap. Unfortunately, when I run fdisk off the gentoo installation CD, it appears to only allow 4 partitions. Isn't there a way to install three distributions, preferably without needing a boot disk? (I don't trust floppies)

Not now, John! 09-16-2004 05:12 PM

Make one of your primary partitions as Extended, and you'll be able to create plenty Logical Disks - partitions.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

Anyone have a link or some basic info on getting started with extended a logical partitions? Can it be done with fdisk alone?

cfdisk is a bit more graphical (not GUI, just more graphical in the console)

Here's a link that might help explain some stuff:

Thank you kindly. I used cfdisk from knoppix. I believe it was successful.
