formatting drive with EXT3 for data drive

what's the best way (i.e., options/switches) to format a drive with EXT3 if I solely intend to use the drive for data storage and streaming ONLY?

does this way work well on a 1 TB or 3-4 TB drive?

i'm essentially trying to get the most usable space out of EXT3 as possible (I recently formatted my 1 TB drive with GParted and it only gave me 870 GB usable space eventhough FAT32 gave me 931 GB of usable space).

what's the switch/syntax for large clusters?
