Thank you for your support syg00. Here is where I'm at. Since I mucked sda, and Ubuntu
was just a toy for me, I've decided to move all my personal ( /home) files to it.

My sdc3 contains 52G. 29G of which is a Jazz directory. I will purchase a 32G flashdrive
for it. Sda is a 30G drive. So 30 + 29 = 59G worth of my lifes .. I've already began
xfering all files (including hidden) to said volume. After I purchase and copy my music
to said flashdrive I will wipe out sdc and install Slack either from live iso or download
the kits and install it. Then I'll copy sda to sdc and have sda as a dedicated music
cache. Does this sound realistic ?

Will my email remain intact ? I copied eveything I saw with
"hidden" selected.

Ima

Sounds convoluted, but should work. You can't have too many backups - especially for a Jazz collection ...
I still have a pile of LPs, and no turn-table (managed to get most on CD).

I usually have no trouble importing into new mail systems, but might depend on what you use. Evolution is rubbish, but I've been able to import it's folders into claws when I've needed to; even when Evolution itself can't find then.
