formating flash drive for work


which linux program to format a flash is free and best for loading programs onto other machines.

You are asking two separate questions here.

To answer the first part, to format/flash a usb device/hard disk use GPARTED which usually comes installed by default with any linux distro.

For the second part, what exactly do you mean by loading, transferring files from one disk to another?

consider using dd for image transfers/ backups

mkfs -t vfat /dev/whatever_is_flash
