format windows through linux


I have a windows partition.I want to format it.
I have done a format using Gparted;
but it is not working what i ahve to do now??

What do you mean? How is it not working? Are you receiving an error message? Please clarify.

I am guessing here that you don't see your newly formated partition in your Linux OS.
Wich filesystem did you format it with? And did you try to mount it manually, if it mount just modify your fstab accordingly.

In a terminal...

Use a terminal with root privileges and type the command "fdisk -l". You should see whether or not you have a partition in the partition table.

You can use a linux live-cd to format partitions, but a dedicated live-cd like PartedMagic or GPartedLive is a useful tool to have.
