Forgot to install some software packages
On my Mandrake 9.1 install i was rushed and forgot to install some software packages
can anyone tell me how to install the software packages again i wanna install all of them (2 days in linux, yay) |
mount the cdrom...
just double click on the rpms you want to install... I'm not a mandrake user anymore and I don't remember if they have a package manager, but trying looking in the menus to see if there is something like 'package manager' that will install it all for you |
thanks, that was a pretty quick response
there are three cds though should i mount all of them to check and to install everything would take a while is there anyway to tell what i already installed, and install the rest of the rpms. like add/remove programs in windows |
Just go into the KDE Menu, Configuration, Packages, Install Software. There's also a link in the Mandrake Control Centre.
With this app (urpmi) you can find and select packages to install, with helpful descriptions, and it'll automatically install all other packages and libraries required for the packages you selected. :) |
Hi
You can also use mcc (mandrake configration centre, if you want it the easy way, use the rpmdrake, it 'll display all the packages and on wich cdrom those packages are . To speed it up a little, put one of the cd's in first, otherwise 'll rpmdrake first scan the cdrom several times. So in console type mcc enter or use the icon; monitor/wrench tool Good luck ahh, update time lag same as Proud's answer |
Thanks,
you guys are the best |
