Unhappy Forgot Root Password

Hello Every1,
Am in Dire Straits,Have my shell programming exam on 11th and forgot te root password.I have Mandrake 9.1.How do i get it back?Any help will b appreciated.Thanks,

Go here...

...and follow my instructions to boot into "single user" mode. You can then reset the root password with a new one, and reboot regularly with the new password.

I cannot understand that where do i type the commands,I dont know whether i boot in grub or linux but it doesnt give me a chance to type anything,when i type 'e' nothing happens.Please tell me where and when i shud i type the commands.Thanks.

If you hit e and nothing happens you are likely using lilo. Grub is easier. I have never been able to do it with lilo.

If you hit the arrow keys it will sit there while you try things.

Got a rescue disk? I believe there is on a RH 9 CD ...

I think you hit ESC or something at the graphical selecter, and it will disappear and give you a prompt.
