.fonts symlink
I have around 120 or so fonts sitting on an NTFS partition, and rather than copy them over to my home .fonts (i'm on a single-user system), I thought I'd just create a symlink to them (like I have done for my mp3 collection & XMMS).
I tried: modify@penance:~$ ln -s /mnt/ntfs/windows/fonts ~/.fonts However, that doesn't seem to be working; OpenOffice doesn't seem to like the idea, nor does Gnome. Is this not possible or something? |
The font folder needs to be writable, because it needs to generate an index and a cache file.
I suppose you need to copy the fonts manually, or maybe link the actual font files instead. |
Awesome; thanks for the clarification.
