Font size problems

I'm running KDE (not sure what version... but im running the latest MEPIS.) and even though I 've used the control center to make sure all of my fonts are smaller, (size 8 sans serif), applications like synaptic, firefox, gaim, or pretty much any other application... the font is a lot larger, like size 10...

i've tried decreasing font size with firefox, but that isnt it.

Example... toolbar is set to Sans Serif 8, but in all my applications, it is noticeably a lot larger...

any ideas? thanks.

Since these applications are gnome native, you need to change the font sizes in the gnome control center as well. The only problem I've encountered is that I need to open up the font option of the gnome control panel EVERY time I log in, the sizes are still the same as what I set them to, they just don't take effect until I've opened and closed this menu. Anyone else encountered this problem, or more importantly, found a solution to it?

-Hope I helped a little-
Matt
