font paths in Xorg.0.log? (FIXED)

Hi,

I appear to have a problem with my paths to fonts, but I think that I installed all the fonts. I don't know what to do about it. The following is a excerpt from my Xorg.0.log:

(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/X11/cyrillic" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(WW) The directory "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType" does not exist.
Entry deleted from font path.
(**) FontPath set to:
/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc,
/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/:unscaled,
/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/:unscaled,
/usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1,
/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi,
/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi

Can someone clearly spell out what I must do?

Don't worry about it.

This is "legacy" stuff, that is just ignored (but with warnings).
Install new fonts with your distro's font-manager and you'll be OK.

The trouble is that it is much more fun to introduce new things to linux, than it is to remove the parts that are obsolete, or deprecated, so long as the system continues to run (in my experience, it does).

That's nice, tredegar, but I'm a bit of a neat-nic where it comes to my computer. Can I set some paths, or something, so that this message is fixed?

The fist place to look is in xorg.conf in the fonts section.
There, delete any references to fonts that do not exist.

OK. That fixed that. Thx. I didn't know that some fonts were more equal than other fonts. That is a neat way to get rid of a problem, though. Linux is marvelous, ain't it?
