folder opening trouble

recently i downloaded a book from net and when i tried to extract it using unrar,it prompted a password.however it did not respond when i typed it.what can b the problem??also can anyone tel me terminal command for deleting nonempty directories??

To remove directory
rm -fr directory
Not sure about the password.

I downloaded unrar to open rar files.
