Fn Keys on LG R500
i am a newbie and have had Ubuntu 7.10 for six weeks now. Slowly i am implementing a few things, like my webcam und bluetooth mouse and now i am on to FN keys.
I have researched quite a bit and have sent queries with no definitive answers. Can anyone maybe give me a tip or suggestion? It is deeply appreciated. thanks heinz |
are you talking about F1-F12 or other special command keys on your keyboard. You can reprogram what code a key sends with something called Xkeys i think. It's been so long since I've done it.

sorry, but there was a misunderstanding on my behalf in 2 ways: 1. originally i did not mean F1 to F12 but your reply brought me to that idea additionally - thank you. but i did mean Fn F1 to Fn F12 2. i did misinterpret X Windows. Of course i am working with X windows, so in installed xkeysw and also wanted to install xkeysw-configure and i got the following error message: Depends: python (<2.5) but 2.5.1-ubuntu2 is to be installed. so in further step i installed python 2.4 python2.5.1 and python-all ( which includes 2.4 and 2.5) in each case the error message as above remained so that i couldn't run the program in the terminal which gave me the error message:Cannot open file .xkeyswrc I assuming that is the configuration file which cannot be 'produced' since xkeysw-configure is not installable. thank you for your patience and support heinz |
maybe you can compile your own xkeysw-configure from source.

maybe you can install or compile an older version. Or try to pull a sample configuration file out of the source.
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/poo...ubuntu1.tar.gz mosquitoville is just jonesboro, arkansas. there's a bunch of rice fields in the area that keep all the mosquitos happy. |
