The Fn key for standby mode(Fn + F3) in my laptop was not working correctly. I tried to set it with xbindkeys package. But when i tried to assign command for standby fuction, the key combination of Fn +F3 is not detected. What is the reason for this? Im using gxine player for audio and video. I want to control the gxine player through command prompt. Is there commands to control the audio settings through command prompt? Where is the file for the hotkeys in linux?
When you start up xev from a terminal, and then press Fn, does it register?
When Fn is pressed and you press F3, is the output different from F3 by itself?
That means that you'd need some special drivers to be able to make
use of those ... search the web for your make & model in conjunction
with Linux ... sorry.
I have tried xev command in my micreosoft keyboard. It produced same keycode (keycode = 8 ) for email, webhome, run, play/pause, websearch and standby keys. Is there any fault with xev command?
