fluxbox / gdm
Hi, i'm runnin slack 9.1 and fluxbox.
Now, the only way to get into flux (or blackbox, or gnome, or...) is via gdm. Nothin else works, if I try running startx (which should have started flux) I get something about missing PCI:0:0 device... (I have radeon 9200se on agp?). The second problem is that I can't get any apps started at startup like root-tail or gkrellm... no matter where I put the commands, in /home/me/.xinitrc or /home/me/.xsession, nothing happens... |
I've been doing some reading in /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession and it says that the firstthing gdm looks for is .xprofile and then .xsession. I tried writing the commands

Another note: the funny thing is that if I run this manually and it works and then I press ctrl+alt+backspace to restart xwindows, the root-tails are still there, but when I restart x for the second time, it's gone... funny. |
