Fluxbox 0.9.14: Antialiasing issues

Hello, I'm having problems antialiasing text in the Fluxbox (0.9.14) style itself. As you can see by reading this excerpt from the Fluxbox release notes:

- Removed "antialias"-option completly, to enable/disable "antialias"
use either <fontname>:antialias=<bool> in the style or use
Xft.antialias: <bool> in your .Xdefaults
The antialias options have been removed from the menu and the init file. Xft.antialias seems to only antialias fonts within programs, not within styles. Editing the style file using :antialias= hasn't worked at all for me so far...i've tired

neither of which had any effect. I'm running Debian GNU/Linux 3.1, x86.

This is a really old post, but I think I should document my answer. I had to install the development tools for XFT and recompile Fluxbox to enable XFT support. Now, it works (worked, I don't use Fluxbox anymore) properly.
