Floppy issues

Running suse 9.1 personal. Can't write to the floppy drive. I did a LS -lsa and it belongs to root. I think I need to add my user to the floppy group, which I don't know how to do. I changed the permission to the /media/floopy folder to all the user to read and write but they went back to root after changing floppies.
