it is not about cost
infact i get them at the thrift store and i have about 80 blank ones for 20 bucks so
yeah thats better then flash drives considering i have an old computer collections
and more then half dont handle flash drive

Floppies did start it all, fact I think the first floppies were like 8" big then they went to the 5.250 floppies (I still have some of them floating around) but like most things new tech replaces it. So give it about another 10 yrs or so and the kids of that generation will be asking what a floppy was. Just like my kids wondered what a 8 track player was. I wish I would have had this conversation with you about 3mon ago, I could have sent you a box of about 500 floppy disks I sent to the dump. I may still have a hundred or so laying around you can have if I can find them.

As for the life of a flash drive, I couldn't even begin to guess. My oldest one is a 256mb drive I got about 5 yrs ago and it still works fine. But like anything it will die one day.
