Angry FLOPPY & CDROM cannot be mounted after installing kernel2.6.4

Hi everyone,

I just install kernel 2.6.4 with my redhat 9. after I boot into the new kernel, My CDROM and FLOPPY cannot be mounted, it give a message like this
"filesystem must be specified"

They both working in my 2.4 kernel.

I have tried to create a /sys directory and edit my /etc/rc.sysinit, /etc/fstab, and /etc/init.d/halt as being told in kerneltrap forum, but it is still not working.

Thanx in advance

Check your configuration cd /usr/src/linux make menuconfig don't save the file to keep your current kernel if you change it you will have to run make && make modules_install and then whatever else you did before [cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage ect.ect.] + [cp System.map ect.ect]

Thanx for the quick reply. But I'm wondering which option in the menuconfig, that you suggest me to check, because there is so much option in it. could you point to me which option that I was missing during the build.

See if this helps http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=91503
if you want to look at your .config do this
cd /usr/src/linux
cp .config /boot/config-<your kernel> and you can see what you included or not.
here is another one http://www.linuxelectrons.com/articl...40315152255759
