Flat screen monitor and Linux installation

I plan to install a Linux distro (probably Linspire 6) on my daughter's Microshaft XP computer which is infected with all kinds of you know what.
She is bringing me her CPU which I will make a clean install using my monitor, keyboard and mouse. It occurred to me that maybe when she gets back to her home, her monitor may not be recognized by the new install. Or would the new install pick it up anyway?

Yes your system should pick it up. However if you know the max resolution I would go ahead and insert the resolution in the xorg.conf file.

It would probably be a good idea to give her a copy of the install disk(s) in case her monitor requires a different driver. Even mice, printers, etc. would need their specific drivers.

I beg you, have mercy on her, not Linspire, anything but that, heck even Ubuntu.
