Flash problem, and Ati 200M
 
Howdy,I'm using PcLinuxOS 2007 on a Toshiba Satellite A105 S2051. Graphics: ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress 200M].

I have two problems in Linux that haven't been able to fix. The first one being the most important.

1. Everytime I use a flash player in firefox (youtube, purevolume, myspace etc.) it plays for a minute or so then the sound glitches up or if its video it'll just stop and refuse to play. I've tried reinstalling and/or updating firefox and reinstalling the flash plugin. Neither of which did me any good :[ I've also tried different browsers, but they crashed the same way firefox did. (opera, konqueror) I'm at a loss here...

2. I can't seem to get my graphics to work right. Everytime I try to play this game http://tremulous.net I only get 4 fps. Where as in Windows I'll get up to 90 some fps. I'm using the driver off the ati site http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Not sure if both problems are related. I have a similar problem with flash movies (Toshiba Satellite A30, ATI IGP M9000 graphics and integrated ATI sound) but i have a feeling is related to the sound card and not graphics.

Regarding problem 2 can you confirm whether the drivers are loaded correctly.

At the command line enter: glxgears -info

and post the values for GL_RENDERER, GL_VERSION and GL_VENDOR

Yes, I believe I have integrated ati sound as well. "ATI Technologies Inc SB450 HDA Audio" :]

GL_RENDERER = ATI Radeon Xpress Series

GL_VERSION = 2.0.6747 (8.40.4)

GL_VENDOR = ATI Technologies Inc.

The correct driver is loaded so i'm not 100% sure why you get such a low frame rate, possibly the game isn't detecting the hardware acceleration correctly and reverting to software rendering.

as for the flash problem "i've got nothin" i'm waiting for the ubuntu Gutsy and hopefully the new kernel will sort my problems.

Ah its all good, I appreciate the effort :] At least I know I installed the driver right. lol

I believe you can upgrade to Gutsy's developing kernel, flash videos etc. work fine on that kernel (for me that is). how to link>>
