flash plugin in Fedora18

i keep getting a popup from firefox that i need a flash plugin, i've tried yum, rmp, nothing seems to stick. however youtube videos play but at the top it says i need to update my flash.

a recent webpage from an employer had an applet that was like an electronic signature and that didn't work so i guess i have an older version.

is there a way to just update it? i did an yum update/upgrade already.

This is the latest Flash for Linux

Quote:

File: libflashplayer.so
Path: /usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so
Version: 11,2,202,297
State: Enabled
Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
Is this the same as what you have installed on your system? How did you install flash? Adobe repository?

well this is awkward, no such file exists. i really don't see how this can be, went to adobe, downloaded "install with yum" it goes to package manager and appears to be installing, then i downloaded the rpm and tried to install and it said the file was already installed...wth

Try to do yum remove and then install it again. See if that helps.

The flash plugin comes in 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Do you have the version that is compatible with your OS and your hardware?

seems i had the wrong rpm file at first. it was "adobe-release-x86_64-1.0-1.noarch.rpm", then i redownladed and got flash-plugin_11,2,202,297.rpm and that one did the trick.

thanks for the replies

That's what I thought! Glad it worked! :)
