fix tcp select() with non-zero timeout for redhat 4.5

Linux kernel versions 2.6.18.8 and earlier seems to block a TCP select() with non-zero timeout, for up to 40 msec, one or two times every second.

This problem does not occur in more recent versions of kernel: for example in 2.6.18-92.

The problem is that we have RHEL 4.5 and the new kernel doesn't fit it (according to RH).

Is there a way or a kernel suitable for RHEL 4.5 fixing that without upgrading to RHEL 5.x (RH suggestion)?

Thanks in advance

If that's a legal copy of RHEL, you'd be best off phoning them, seeing as the ctc includes support.
You might also want to ask the mods (via the Report button) to move this to the RH forum for better exposure.
