Fix i915 driver

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit on a Laptop.
The problem is that screen keeps blinking like rainbow.
This is what happened on my laptop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOY4R...lhPcxGm7IpyLWw
My workaround was editing /etc/default/grub.
Code:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="text i915.modeset=0"
But that wasn't a perfect solution, because I can't adjust screen brightness and laptop becomes so slow when I play graphical games after that.
So I want to know if there is a better solution.

It looks like the old 'sound on video' behaviour from TVs. There is low frequency interference. Perhaps the mode is switching continually.

TVs had sound and video separated by a few Mhz (5.5 Mhz most of Europe). Ireland, where I live, used 6 Mhz, so issues were common. If you were mistuned you got that effect as the sound got through onto the video.

There is a low frequency interference on the video. That is what I see in the video on youtube.

I don't know why. You said that "i915.modeset=0" fixes it. So it could be KMS. I would look for a video software update, or file a bug.
