First Timer, Hardware and OS Questions...

I once toyed with Linux (Fedora 1) awhile back on a stripped down IBM...

I currently have a Wal-Mart cheap-o Hewlett-Packard (512 ram, shared video, p4 2.5ghz, 80gb hd) and it's...'recovery disc' is within itself (on a partition), so if I go to Linux, well... this is gonna be a never look back experience I fear.

I liked Fedora (sorta, I'm sure I'd like other 'flavors' more), that is to say... I like Linux - I like the speed, customization, and freshness of an always new and always superior OS.

So what I'm looking for... is recomendations, tips, routes of going about this and discussion on if its even worth it on a machine such as this... What would -you- do, and how would you go about doing it?

Well, assuming they install linux on GBA's and on pretty much everything, you could probably do it. However, it might not be nearly as supported as most custom made boxes. You never really know when it comes to linux if something is going to be compatible out of the box. If you just want to use it for browsing the internet and creating documents, it should work fine for that. You might not be able to get a good driver for that integrated video though, so games might be out of the question.
