First time logging in MEPIS?Help

I am a new Linux user, i have never used it before so I havent got the slightest idea what i am doing. I am using MEPIS, and I just installed it, and I am trying to run it for the first time. After it loads everything it asks me for Home login, i named my computer 'home' so i figure thats what it means. I put in root, and then it asks me for the password, so I put in root also, and then it says MEPIS 3.3 and it looks like it is starting up, and then it says root@tty1[~]#:, so i pressed enter and then it says -bash: command not found. its probably a very simple solution, but I wouldn't know because I have never come across anything in MSwindows like that.

Well when you get to root@tty1[~]# you've logged in as root. So if you press enter nothing will happen. I assume then that you don't get a graphical interface, just text? And you're expecting to get a graphical interface? A command you could try is startx - this will load the graphical interface if it's installed correctly.
