First programs

Ok guys im just right now installing Linux Redhat 9.0 and i would like to ask you what progrmas i should install if i want to listen some music watch movies etc. give me some list.

I like these:

Movies: mplayer (and/or xine)
Sound: xmms

You could search google for movie players for linux. You might get one or two sites that list several programs, maybe even has something about each one with links to their sites. Then visit their websites, read the information, view the screenshots, pick one or two to try, then download and install them.

I like xmms and xine.

Linux Rdhast 9.0 works great! But I got problem with that xmms. I have some mp3 files on my drive, but I cant play those files with xmms. why? i need plugins?

xmms in RH9 shipped hobbled. Go to and download the xmms-mp3 rpm, then su, and rpm -i xmms-mp3xxx.rpm

Should work just fine.
