First boot error for a poor new Linux guy...
Hi there,
Waooo... finally decided to use forum and more... forum for Linux. So do not lugh too loud 'cause I'm speaking about RedHat 6.1. I take the problem from the source so I am starting low. Not so low asa I am trying to install it on a disk where WinME (booouuuuoouuuu!) is installed. And of course, first 1024 cylinders are used. So forget LILO and MBR. Installation works pretty fine (in fact it works 8 times fine!!). When I try to boot for first time with a boot disk created during instal I recieve that: Error 0x10 I have created a new boot disk with ramwrite from DOS session. Boot with it returns: Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01 More information that could help. I am using a multi boot application that detect Linux. But whn I start it, I have to setup my network card and then give an URL for second part of install..... strange as evrything come from a CDROM gives with an installation manual. It is shown as AFPLinux (or something like that :-) Regarding info from web.. it might be due to Network card. So if you have any idea any solution (except removing Win partition) let me know... Hope I would be helpfull for you next time Cheers, (speaking french + english) |
