Firestarter with KDE 3.1?
The Firestarter firewall is a GNOME application but on their website they say "it works with KDE too".
Any experiences out there if this is mainly true and whatīs to be taken into account when trying to get it working? Thanks for any opinion. Johnny |
Firestarter works OK on KDE, but I prefer GuardDog. It's really simple to setup and has a great tutorial in the help file.

Hi Johnny
Firestarter works fine for me (using KDE Slack 9.1) , compiled it and it runs ok and works fine cheers |
Thanks synapse and Baldrick65 for your comments.
I didnīt manage to install Firestarter from source (dependancy hell) or find an rpm for SuSE 9.0 but I then did find a SuSE rpm for guarddog and the rest was a breeze. Set up the thing in 15 minutes, all ports sucessfully stealthed, Samba for the LAN worked immediately. Very, very nice. Hereīs the URL to the download, if anybody else is interested: http://packman.links2linux.de/?action=402 Thanks, Johnny |
