Can you explain exactly how you installed FFx3 on your system? What steps did you take? What folder did you install it in?
cheers,
jdk

In a terminal type

That will tell you where the executable is.

This is progress. Now post the results of
Code:

ls -l /usr/bin/firefox
I want to see if it is linked to some other location. Another thing is are you running firefox as a normal user? and not as root? Is that correct?
And last, but not least, do you have a folder called /home/{your user name}/.mozilla/firefox? This is where your configuration data should go.
Cheers and courage,
jdk

to find out can you post the output of this command.
Code:

rpm -qa | grep firefox
some of firefox 2 might be needed to run firefox 3 on limpus light

You're making progress!
Go to the menu item Edit->Preferences and look in the "Main" tab. That's where you configure your home page. What does it say? If it's not what you want then you should change it accordingly. Make sure you have the proper folder for your configuration which should be:
/home/{your user name}/.mozilla/firefox
Do you have that folder?
cheers,
jdk

hi jdkaye

tried to change homepage etc.. and it wouldnt let me.....can you help with where i will look as i can find a few firefox folders that dont mean very much

thanks

John VV 06-12-2009 08:55 PM

well not all of the OLD fedora 8 rpm's will work on Limpus Light .They are not 100% binary compatible.

i would uninstall it ( from add and remove programs menu ) and install the prebuilt from the firefox web site

That's not really helpful. I don't understand "...wouldn't let me".
The folder is where I said it was (if it exists) /home/{username}/.mozilla/firefox
What exactly are you having trouble with?
cheers,
jdk
