Just got Ubuntu loaded and running. Now Firefox will not start. The alert says it will no initialize the applications security component. It was me to check to see if it has any read only files or if my disc is full. Firefox worked when booting from the livecd and when I reboot to Xp it works. Any ideas? Thanks again for helop in advance
Are you using the official Ubuntu Firefox packages, or have you installed it yourself somehow? What user are you trying to run it as? If you start FF from the terminal, what messages do you get exactly?
I am using the one that came with it. Whats is the command to run it from the terminal? It says I either do not have enough space or ff has read only files loaded.
Let's see if it is is a problem with space. In the terminal do:
df -h
Look at the top line which should have '/' under Mounted on. Check what you have for Size, Used, Avail and for % Use. Hopefully you have installed on a big enough partition.
Thanks you 2. It was the disk space. When I loaded the defuat set it at 2.5 and I did not change it. So I used xp disk management to get rid of the partitions. Disconnected to external hard drive before re loading. Reran ubuntu's livecd and reinstalled. I gave it half of the internals space and now FF works fine. It brought over my bookmark folders but not the bookmarks in them. I am slowly getting a handle on it. Any suggestions on books on ubuntu or linux? Looking for a users guide not necessilary one on writing code. I may start a new thread. Thanks again
Add that to your windows firefox and sync. Then add it on the linux side and sync. This will be handy if you are going to use both OS's or more than one computer.
Here is their online documentation for version 9.04. It's not a book, but those books get outdated really fast.
