firefox reinstall not happening
Up untill an hour ago firefox was working well on my mandrake 10.1 system. then for some reason known only to experts it ceased to function. So I decided to reinstall the program and this is what I get
[root@tewaru fox]# cd /usr/local/fox [root@tewaru fox]# tar -zxvf firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz firefox-installer/ firefox-installer/xpi/ firefox-installer/xpi/adt.xpi firefox-installer/xpi/browser.xpi gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file tar: Unexpected EOF in archive tar: Unexpected EOF in archive tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now Can anyone enlighten on what to do next Thanks Tewaru |
Looks like your download appears to be corrupt. Either download it again or use a Mandrake Firefox rpm.

root@tewaru firefox-installer]# ./firefox-installer SCIM: im_module_init free(): invalid pointer 0x8266078! free(): invalid pointer 0x8266050! ./firefox-installer: line 56: 15722 Segmentation fault ./${BINNAME}-bin $@ where to now thanks tewaru |
firefox reinstall not happening
I have the same problem. I'm using Mandrake 10.1. I uninstalled (deleted) everything, the firefox directory and the profile directory. I tried to re-install but I come across this message:
SCIM: im_module_init free(): invalid pointer 0x81f55b8! free(): invalid pointer 0x81f5590! ./firefox-installer: line 56: 12064 Segmentation fault ./${BINNAME}-bin $@ I am stuck. Help. |
I am afraid that in the end i waited and with no replies. I refreshed mandrake 10.1 by reinstalling over the original and I still got the same message. So I bit the bullet, cleared the hard drive and done a complete install of mandrake 10.1 and everything is working fine now. This is the first time that I have had to this and I have been running from mandrake 7.1. I installed mandrake 10.1 over mandrake 10 and I must admit things were not as stable as usual, I have had up till now a nice run with mandrake linux.
I hope someone can solve your problem before you have to do anything drastic cheers Tewaru |
